Interim head coach Brian Sørensen was delighted after Aston Villa battled from behind against Liverpool to secure their first Women's Super League win of the season on Sunday.
Two goals, a rocket from Chasity Grant and a deflected Océane Deslandes corner, completed the comeback in the second half after Natalia Ramos had given the visitors the lead from range.
Sørensen was particularly pleased with his side for digging deep to stay in the game before going on to complete the turnaround after half time.
Speaking post-match to VillaTV, Sørensen said: "I can't be more happy, it was a great day. First off we struggled a little bit, went behind and couldn't really get a foothold in the game.
"But credit to the girls, we really dug deep and stayed in it. They worked so hard, we were so eager to show our fans a win.
"The atmosphere here was incredible, the fans stuck behind us. Incredible comeback from the girls. , they really deserve it."
Villa fended off the away side's attempts to extend their advantage in what remained of the first half, before Sørensen turned to his bench at half time.
Defender Rofiat Imuran and midfielder Oriane Jean-François were introduced, with the double change proving crucial to Villa turning the contest on its head.
"We could go to half-time and we made some personnel changes", the Villa boss added, "But I think it was more the structure that we changed that helped.
"We could press much better and force turnovers and so on."
Imuran impressed with her direct running and interplay on the left flank, as she made her debut in claret and blue since joining the club over the summer.
Meanwhile Jean-François took control of possession at the heart of midfield on her first appearance of the season, having recently returned from an injury sustained in pre-season.
Sørensen continued, "I think they, of course, helped tremendously, came with fresh energy, which we needed, and also their individual qualities.
"It was good, but it's not just about them, it's the whole team. I think they really dug deep, they got the job done and I'm so glad for them."
Grant's equaliser kicked off the comeback, with Deslandes corner ten minutes later rubberstamping Villa's dominance after a front-footed start to the second half.
Then the side returned to show more defensive resilience to see out a deserved first league victory of 2026/27.
Sørensen finished by thanking the home fans for their superb support once again in Hednesford.
"An incredible atmosphere, you can hear them. They were helping us when we were down and struggling. When the girls got the game turned around, they also helped us with that energy.
"I'm so pleased that we could give the fans the first (league) win in the season. We really needed that, but also the performance, the heart, the grind that we showed, (was) really good."
