Sørensen pleased with professional display at Burnley

Brian Sørensen praised the professionalism of his Aston Villa side on Wednesday night, after they claimed a third successive win in the Players Cup League Phase.

The Interim Head Coach rotated his squad for the away trip to Burnley, with several youngsters making an impact after being named in the starting XI.

And Sørensen expressed his particular delight at how the team controlled the contest from first whistle to last.

Speaking to VillaTV post-match, he said: "It was good, very professional.  We came here, we had a job to do. in the beginning the condition wasn't the best but luckily they settled down a bit and got the win.

"It became a really good night. I love what I saw out there from them, early goal and we were in control the whole way through. Job done, well done.

"Also, we played a lot of the players that maybe hasn't given us much minutes lately, so it was good to see all of them out there and performing.

"And (seeing) the style that we want to play, so I liked it. Really good."

Lily Murphy was voted Player of the Match by Villa fans for her enterprising display.

She teed up fellow youngster Georgia Mullett for the opener before securing the points with her second goal in as many league cup outings.

When asked for his thoughts on the impact of the younger players, Sørensen added: "All over they were front footed, they were aggressive, (it was) so good to see.

"Scotty with her first start, and Immy (Seymour) came in and it was her debut on her 18th birthday. Sometimes those things get in line with what we want to try to do, so that was nice for her, a good moment.

"I think Mia (McAulay) did well, Lily (Murphy) was really good, G (Mullett) did well, Maltby too. I think it's nice to see. "

Sørensen finished by looking ahead to another away trip on Sunday, when Villa head to Goodison Park to face his former club Everton.

"Looking forward to it. We have some good days to prepare.

"We got the minutes balanced really well (tonight), so a lot of numbers to be available for Sunday.

"We'll also have some coming back from injury, so overall it's going to be exciting."
