In-form Villa clinch fourth successive win

Aston Villa moved seven matches unbeaten with Saturday’s impressive 2-1 victory over Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Enzo Maresca’s side arrived in the midlands boasting a 100 per cent record in the league this season, but in-form Villa claimed all three points to make it just one defeat in 10 in all competitions.

Nicolas Jackson’s brace, either side of Erling Haaland’s leveller, took his tally for the season to seven goals in all competitions.

It was a third successive victory over City and fourth in a row at Villa Park for Unai Emery’s charges, who now set their sights on Wednesday’s Carabao Cup tie at AFC Bournemouth.
