Emi Buendía hailed an “important” victory after Aston Villa moved past Viking FK in the UEFA Champions League at Villa Park.
The hosts were on top from the off and scored twice in the first half, including a coolly taken penalty from our No.10.
A late consolation for the visitors pulled the score back to 3-1 by full-time, but it represented a good night’s work for Buendía and his teammates.
“It was very good, a tough match,” he said.
“These kinds of teams come here with all their energy and will to show the character of why they are playing in this competition.
“We respected them a lot, we worked and prepared the match very well, and we showed it in the match.”
Buendía had chances to find the net on more than one occasion, with Villa carving out several great opportunities.
The Argentine was focused on the team and picking up three points, which maintains Villa’s 100% record.
He said: “I should have scored more.
“I had chances but I’m pleased I was getting them. I scored the penalty, so I’m happy with that.
“It was an important win and we have to keep going.”
