Alysson reflected on a “dream night” after Aston Villa’s 3-1 victory over Viking in the UEFA Champions League.
The Brazilian winger, 20, played a direct role in two of Villa’s goals and enjoyed an impressive performance throughout, earning the club’s Player of the Match award.
Alysson was tripped in the area for our second goal at Villa Park, Emi Buendía slotting home the resulting penalty following a VAR review.
And it was from one of his trademark driving runs that the hosts made it 3-0 in the second half, Alysson seeing his effort deflected into the net by Viking defender Henrik Heggheim.
The youngster was beaming as he spoke to VillaTV post-match, delivering his first interview in English.
“It was a dream night for me, for my family,” he said.
“I’m very proud, me and my team, my team-mates.
“The phrase is ‘dream night’.
“For me, it’s perfect.”
Unai Emery’s side made it three wins from three in Europe courtesy of the dominant Matchday 3 triumph, meaning the Villans remain level at the top of the league phase standings on a maximum nine points.
In doing so, Villa became the second fastest team to ever reach 20 wins in Europe’s elite club competition, coming in our 30th match, behind only Real Madrid (29).
The club’s 12th successive European home victory also moves us six matches unbeaten in all competitions, including five wins.
Alysson’s involvement for Villa’s third goal just after the hour mark was the closest he has come to netting in claret and blue in Europe.
And he was proud of his impact.
“I’m very happy,” he added.
“I tried sometimes in the game so, in this action, I’m feeling happy.
“I’m very happy.”
