Aston Villa have teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to help bring you hints, tips and advice during the 2026/27 Fantasy Premier League season.

Scout will be using their expertise to provide advice and gameweek tips which should prove useful in ensuring you win your mini-leagues.

Aston Villa’s João Gomes (£5.5m) could be a solid under-the-radar pick for FPL managers. 

His return from suspension in Gameweek 5 has helped solidify Villa in the middle of the park, ahead of Saturday’s home fixture with Manchester City.

Gomes notably finished as the fourth-best FPL midfielder for defensive contributions (DefCon) in 2025/26, with 388 combined clearances, blocks, interceptions, recoveries and tackles.

He has already hit the DefCon threshold at Villa, earning two extra points for his owners against Tottenham Hotspur before the international break.

Furthermore, in an excellent all-round display at Newcastle United last weekend, Gomes supplied the assist for Johan Manzambi’s (£6.0m) winner.

When combined with his DefCon potential, Gomes could tick along nicely in FPL, with his budget price tag allowing you to push funds into other areas of your squad.

After Saturday’s home clash with Man City, the Villans host Fulham at Villa Park in Gameweek 9.

Man City are top of the Premier League table with a 100% record after seven matches. Erling Haaland (£15.7m) is their top FPL scorer with 58 points, thanks to eight goals and 12 bonus.
